___

Psychogeography is the fact that you have an opinion about a space the moment you step into it"

This has application in contemporary art that tries to communicate an atmospheric emotion to the viewer.

The article talks about cutting up a space by moving through it in an unexpected way which I think we see a lot in collage work. Putting different kinds of media together in different unexpected ways outside of their original context to create a new message or visual emotion.

Some examples:

In this example of a collage the combined use of the cat, and the women at the pool creates a different story and emotional experience for the viewer than these elements would on their own.

In this example, the use of putting-in-the-mouth imagery creates a more loud and overstimulating feeling than just the original image on its own.
