Processing allows the artist to utilize code as a sketchbook and see their ideas play out in real time. Processing can work with hand sketching/creating but also open up more opportunities for the artist and save the artist time in certain contexts.
Processing can be used for better data visualization like in the video when looking at the scale of billions of dollars and their purpose. Computer-processed images can help us to better understand and see data. Data visualization with computer processing can become more of an interactive 3D journey instead of flat on a page.
Computer processing can help artists to sketch in moving and 3D parts allowing for more of a relationship with the non-directional world. With sketches having the potential to become real moving objects/sculptures. In the video, this is exemplified by someone sketching the mechanics of a chair and then using the digital design to create a functional chair fit for use. The digital world can also better reflect our non-digital world.
